Any application contains within itself an internal representation of the subject area for which it is intended to work. The conventional architectural approach implies that such a representation - a data model - consists of interconnected entities, each of which has a specific set of attributes. Real world objects are reflected as instances of entities in the application database. In addition, the application may store, convert, or generate objects directly composed of data, such as digital images, video, audio, text documents, spreadsheets; in terms of the extremum platform, such objects are called resources."
